Mental and Physical Fitness
You can't have one without the other, it as simple as that. If you aren't mentally on top your body will suffer in one way or other. It could be minor things like drinking a bit too much or not doing any exercise. Or, major things like reckless destructive behavior. Vice versa applies as well, If your body temporary or permanently prevent you from doing things you use to do or causing you pain it will affect you mentally, Some times you have to adapt to a new set of circumstances, during other occasions you have to be patient and work on things gradually. We are all different, even if share the present we all have a different past that affects our current emotions, thinking, and behavior. What will help you with whatever mental hardship you going through is to exercise. I use the term exercise as un umbrella term for moving. It could be everything from going for a stroll in park, running ten k, water-aerobics, gardening to a hardcore strength training workout. Remember because you have reached a certain age it doesn't usually exclude you to do particular things.

Another reason you should to some form of exercise is that research has found it reduces stress and anxiety. Activity slows down, putting a brake on the brain's systems which creates stress. The important is to do something you enjoy or be able to put up with before you noticed the benefits. You might want to do it together with another person or maybe even a group. This to be more accountable. Some people don't like to do exercise period. I always tell those to find something they hate the least and stick with it, and you will harvest the benefits from it. You will learn to like it! Here, as in many other places in life, patience is a virtue.
