Hello everyone,
Welcome to Iron couch!
After high school and mandatory military service, I started to work as an orderly at a county hospital for a couple of years before I went to nursing school. Two years later, I received a degree in somatic and mental nursing. A psychiatric hospital ward was my workplace for about a year before I applied and got accepted to physio school. Upon graduation, I worked as a physical therapist both at a hospital and several outpatient clinics for about eight years. The year 1997 was spent “Down Under,” I studied (Post Grad. Diploma in Physical Therapy) in Perth, Western Australia.
I met my Israeli wife while being in Australia, a fellow physio student. We got married and crossed the Atlantic to settle down in Nova Scotia, Canada. For eleven years we called Canada home before we moved with our two daughters to Israel 2010.
For five years, I worked as a writer and photographer; written a fitness book and published articles in English and Australian motorcycle magazines. This wasn't 100% satisfactory, and 2015 I felt a “calling” back to health and wellness. When I came across one of Dr. Irwin Yalom's books, a psychiatrist, world-leading psychotherapist, and a bestselling author. I knew what to do. January 2016 I began my MSc, (master of science) in psychology, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in November of 2021.
I have always been busy with different hobbies, done strength training with weights, for over 35 years, do runs and walks. Two years ago I started to carve spoons in wood. It feels good to create something with your hands. Recently I’ve begun archery which has become a great passion. It’s calming and almost like mediation because it requires your full attention. I also enjoy riding my motorcycle. As you can tell, I have been around the block more than once and I'm like everyone else trying to find my place. I founded Iron Couch because I see a great need to help people who in some ways need a "push" or some guidance to "unlock" themselves to become content and the best they can be. The body and mind are connected. If the mind isn't happy, neither is the body and vice versa. Iron Couch is a service center for body, mind, & soul. Other areas close to my heart are career counseling. It doesn't matter if you are 22 or 62. YOU can always do/work with something close to your heart, your calling, or what you meant to do.
We also offer business consultation; understanding different cultures are fundamental to be successful in business; this requires knowledge of human psychology. What makes people get offended or pleased? Sometimes it's tricky to know.
I will communicate with you in English or Swedish. Fort the last 10 years I have lived most of the winter (October-April) in Israel and a big part of the summer in Sweden.
To make an appointment/initial consultation, please email me kallevag at yahoo.com
I'm looking forward to hearing from you, and I wish you a great day!
