Talk Therapy and fitness!
I offer you quite a unique assistance to improve your health and life, both mind and body. For example, besides counseling, I discuss exercise, body awareness exercises, and meditation. It all depends on what I think (in collaboration with you) would be most beneficial for you.
Besides being a talk therapist (Masters's degree in psychology), I'm a licensed physiotherapist in Sweden, have a university degree in acupuncture, and have 40+ years of exercise experience. Furthermore, I have called four countries on four different continents home. You could say I have been around the block at least a few times.🙂
For one to admit having psychological issues, it is still today in 2023 associated with a lot of shame and guilt. Why? Because of the way we label it, psychological problems. It makes people think there is something seriously wrong with you. At least, many think others believe that. When the right way to word it would be, "I think I need to go and talk to someone to sort my thoughts out."
If you broke your ankle, you would immediately go to the ER, get it x-rayed, and put a cast on. The thought, I wait for six months, and if things don't get better, I talk to my physician, wouldn't even cross your mind. No one would judge you for going to the hospital. Do you think others would consider you weak if you said, I have some mental issues I need to deal with, especially if you are a man? If anyone would think that way, isn't their problem? You like to be content with life and be the best you can be for yourself and your loved ones, right? A broken ankle or "broken mind" will heal with the proper treatment. It doesn't matter what others say about you. What is important is what you tell yourself about yourself. It requires self-awareness to admit you need help to sort out thoughts, feelings, and behavior. See it as a service. You service the car, take it to your mechanic, and your body by going for a walk. Why not service your "head" (mind) as well?
How do you, think, feel, behave, talk, dress, and smell. Are you happy with your social life; friends and partner. Do you have a partner? What about work and hobbies? I can help you to see things from another perspective and doing that new doors will open up. You decide to enter through those doors or not, at least you will see what's available. It's so, so easy to be bored, discontent about life and whine about it. It takes a lot of courage to want to change because it is scary to enter the unknown.
